Went in for a routine eye exam, and feel I was taken advantage of due to my age. I am young, had not previously had an eye exam since I was a young teen and did not know what routine exams should look like. Upon going in, they told me they wanted to send me to the other side of the building for an additional test, I agreed assuming it was a normal part of the exam. Turns out it was not part of a standard exam, and they sent me a bill for nearly $400 beyond what my insurance would cover for the standard exam. I was at no point told the testing would be an additional exam, and perhaps I should have asked more questions, but again; I didn’t know what “normal” was, so I didn’t even think to question it. If I could give them zero stars I would. And then, to top it all off, they didn’t mail me a bill or anything else and sent me a text message saying that I owed them a balance of $X. Highly unprofessional. Very unimpressed and will not be returning here. Dr F**** sent me for the tests after being unable to make a diagnosis, having a second doctor come in who decided Dr F****’s initial ddx was wrong and wanted to run MORE tests. Don’t go here unless you want to spend hours doing laps around the building for a multitude of unnecessary and getting charged for hundreds of dollars when all you went in for was your insurance covered eye exam.

My recent cataract surgery has turned into a nightmare!! After paying close to $8000 out of pocket, I still need to buy glasses costing me $500 due to my poor eyesight. For a week after surgery I could not see properly & had to order temporary glasses, which was an additional cost. Medicare will not cover my glasses even though I was told I’m entitled to a standard pair. This entire ordeal has been so stressful. I thought I had chosen the very best place, and now wish I had gone elsewhere.

You cannot trust them, especially on the 60 day guarantee. I went to the ********** office where the service is sub par and they could not get my prescription right. The glasses they had made were wrong, they made me dizzy and nauseous. They attempted to remake the glasses without any change they still were wrong. The staff suggested something was wrong with me (without saying that explicitly). When asked to correct this they had the audacity to ask for additional payments here again implying this is my fault.

Patients are not first at this practice, despite their commercials and billboards. It seems they lost sight of what IS important. I recently had cataract and glaucoma surgery in each eye, one week apart. But even before that, I would have to block an entire afternoon to get through an appointment. Each step is painfully long and the wait between each step can feel like forever, depending on how many doctors they have on staff that day. During the many appointments for my surgeries, I was there too often and too long. At one point, in getting my three eye drop prescriptions, I was asked if $300 was too much to spend on one set. I said yes. I was offered a coupon which took the amount down to $70. Still too much i was asked? Finally I was offered the $3 generic choice. Another example, but not close to all, of why to avoid Frantz eye care, is when I went for my second pre op visit, my surgeon (not listed in the doctor pull down menu), looked at my chart and asked if I was really diabetic. Apparently he did not know that for the surgery in my first eye. Find a practice where patients actually do come first. And please read the reviews and responses carefully. The business managers response to almost all negative reviews is to blame the patient for not understanding the process or understanding how accommodating the staff tried to be.

Frantz EyeCare provided my husband with the most exceptional care in determining an important diagnosis. It has changed everything about his diet and vitamin routine, and enforced the value of getting his eyes checked frequently. We were treated with such respect, and I'm grateful to have them in my community!

My goodness. The 1-star reviews go back 3 years. I wish I could give zero stars. Do not use this doctor. EVER. I came in to get a second opinion for a growth on my eye lid and they took a bunch of photos and then told me that I might have cancer and that they would need to biopsy it. All I wanted was for them to remove the growth (which was later diagnosed by another doctor as a simple **** and removed in 5 min.). I declined any treatment at that point and was charged $93.54 on way out. I thought that was pretty hefty as a $20 co-payment, but was so exhausted at this point, that I just wanted to leave. Initially I thought the cost for my visit was $110 for the visit and that my insurance discounted it to $81.40 so I called them to arrange for a refund of my overpayment. That was a big mistake. They kept telling me that the claim was not ready and so I called back for weeks. Turns out they changed their mind and submitted a correct claim. Then today I get an EOB from my insurance telling me that they charged me $75 for the photos and $218 for the office visit. The $75 is not covered at all and will not come out of my deductible. The $217 was discounted to $192.04 by my insurance. I called the billing office and told them that I should have been notified at the time of "service" that the photos would not be covered and their response was that all BCBS plans are different. I'm not sure what that has to do with them not warning me that this would not be covered but they would not relent. This happened in the ************** but I would not trust any of their locations considering I'm the 7th 1-star review. Stay away!

Frantz eye care cares more about making money than providing service to their patients.
