We ordered plantation shutters for our new home from Made in the Shade after Joe Kendall, an owner of the company, came out and showed us on the computer what he had available. We didn’t See any samples as he didn’t have any. After waiting longer than we were told they would be coming in, after calling them to see where the shutters were, they were installed. Unfortunately more than 50 percent of the shutters were damaged and defective. We were informed at the time of the first delivery by the installer that the shutters were being made by a new manufacturer and were coming in damaged often. We waited again for the next installation. When they came to install later than they said it would take, once again the shutters were damaged and they also ordered the incorrect shutters. We were told they would order again. Since this would be the third time for installation (fourth time for them to be at our home) we expressed concern to Joe Kendall about the quality of the shutters. We also were extremely concerned that the third order of shutters would be damaged also. Joe *******’s response to us was one of extreme anger. He texted us that we were donkeys (used the cuss word), that we didn’t have the money to pay the next payment, and that he would give us a free pizza coupon. He demanded he come and take back the shutters and refund us our first payment. There were many other unkind remarks that he made toward us. Because of his behavior, we decided we couldn’t deal with him or his company ever again. The product is substandard and the customer service is non existent. As far as the product is concerned, we were not impressed with the shutters at all as they seemed cheap and not made well, but were going to follow through on our contract because we ordered them. It was a relief he came and got them because we thought they looked cheap. Overall, this was the worst experience we have had with a company. We were treated very badly. Product is bad.

Nothing in the review is accurate. 20% of her shutters were damaged. The installer, who is my business partner, told them we were using a new shipper/carrier due to our usual shipper going out of business. Yes, shutters were coming in with freight damage. Yes, we are looking for a new freight carrier. The shutter we sell is Norman Woodlore. The undisputed number one shutter in the market. The client wrote me the rudest and most condescending email I ever received,,,,"You need to up your game Joe" On our second trip we made a mistake and incorrectly ordered a shutter. At this point the client wrote they had no confidence in our company or our product and asked for their money back... I said sure i will come get what i installed and refund your money. I never demanded her money back. After saying she wanted her money back the tune changed to working something out. I said no thanks I do not want to work for you. Then they got really angry...I feel very sorry for this woman. Her husband was always very nice and cordial. I refunded their money with a cashier's check immediately. I believe the womans anger comes from a company not accepting her rude, obnoxious, condescending, and unrealistic attitude...
