On 4/22 the Sobieski tech was here for the annual a/c inspection per my Gold plan.  4/28. No call yet. I think the bill is bogus. On leaving I asked him how everything was and was told all was ok and had me sign off on his phone. Later that day I received an email with an invoice dated April 1 for $215.04 for refrigerant recovery. So I called and was told upon an account check that it was correct. Their records would naturally say that!! So I disagreed as was told all ok and invoice dated 3 weeks before the visit indicates a mistake!! $215.04 is not my idea of all was ok and this is somebody elses bill. I was told billing would call me by

Hi Mr. ******** Thank you for our conversation. As we talked about on the phone, the Tech pulled up a price to quote you if work was needed, it was not needed as your system was working fine, he forgot to remove it from your invoice. Sobieski is not trying to collect and has not tried to collect as we understand the mistake. We further discussed that the date reflected that you mention is the date the work order is created, not the schedule date (that is in the notes). And thirdly I sent you a recording of the Voicemail that our billing department left you on April 25th at 4:26pm asking for a return call to discuss and handle this issue.
      Thank you
      Sobieski Team.

I called on Friday morning to make an appointment to have a tech come out. Spoke with a very nice lady who took my information and said that the scheduling team would call me back. No return call on Friday. Saturday I called and left a message on the answering machine, indicating we would really like someone to come out by Monday at the latest. No call back. Now it is Wednesday, we are leaving town, and we have still heard nothing.

First off, Adam the tech was VERY professional. He checked my plugged-up drain, tried to snake it open without success. His opinion was the line under my basement floor needed to be replaced,
He gave me an estimate of over $8000. I turned the repair down. I have successfully made the repair myself. I rented a jackhammer for $87.37. I spent $134.30 on materials. Total expense was $221.67. Allowing for 100% markup on materials, etc. and rounding up, a total of $450.00 out of pocket. I put in a total of 11 man hours in completing the repair. This means Sobieski is charging $686.36 per hour for labor! I will admit, Adam offered to drop the price down to $6000, but this is still $504.55 per hour. This is price gouging to the max!

I called Sobieski to report error on my HVAC thermostat. My HVAC was installed by them about about 3yr ago. They said they will send out technician and charge me $104. The technician who had come for service said that my thermostat needs replacement and that it was covered under 10year part warranty but it would cost me about $356 in labor charges. I denied their replacement service and when I checked myself all it required was battery change. I got away lucky by paying just $104 visit charge. I am questioning why the technician would ask for entire thermostat replacement when only battery change was required.

      Hi Sanjay,
Without going into the specifics of different Thermostats, it can be said that the Tstat should be getting power through the wires in the wall - the batteries are a back up for emergencies. That being said replacing them will allow the Tstat to work again, but only as long as the battery life. The Tech wanted to replace the Tstat because it's not charging the way it should.
Please reach back to us if you would like the Tstat replaced so it functions properly again.
      Thank you

I have a service contract with Sobieski for Summer and Winter maintenance for my heat pump. The technicians are always friendly, conscientious, considerate and professional.
My complaint is with the scheduling system. If I am able to get through to the company after a very extended hold I must make an appointment for the scheduler to call me back at another time. This go around it took me 3 months to have a chance to speak to a scheduler and then there were no available spots for another month. Sobieski doesn’t seem concerned that the customer has only a few minutes to call and make an appointment during Sobieski’s business hours. I have not had this much aggravation trying to do business with a company.
When a business grows, they need to expand all employment positions especially support staff. Maybe expand hours of operation. There is no online scheduling, so we are limited in how we get through for routine appointments.

      Hi Jennifer,

We are extremely sorry for your experience. We are in a transition period, beginning to use a 3rd party answering service. They will have integration into our scheduling system, however at this point the computer work is not complete yet. We hope you will have patience with us as we push forward.

Again, we sincerely apologize and are working to resolve the issues.

      Thank you

Outrageously high diagnostic charge…showed and notified the technician that condensate pump has not been working and even power light has gone out now; therefore, the water fills up the pan and unit shuts down. He asked to check the thermostat and said that magnetic contact was lose. HVAC unit, AC, and thermostat was installed new 4 years ago by Sobieski. So I asked how long is the warranty on thermostat and was told that it is out of warranty. I told him that the WiFi hub comes on but shuts down after 3-5 minutes and that’s what was happening but after a few times it was on. So he told me that it should be okay and would need new thermostat. However, I asked it still doesn’t solve the water pump issue so then he poured water to check it and it pumped initial pour but not the second time. He then realized that both the pump and safety switch are faulty and that would cost $971 to install both. As he started to install the switch (not the pump yet) I told him to stop as I would like to check with Costco first since it was installed through them. So he said he would still need to charge me $379 for 45 minutes of diagnosis in addition to $104 for coming out.

It seems pretty high to diagnose and furthermore that it wasn’t even his diagnosis to begin with. ??.

I was charged to repair toilet that was installed at time of the home construction with a flange the was too short that was causing a terrible smell. Sobieski, rather than telling us about the two year warranty, especially on an improperly installed flange, charged us over $440 to put in an extra wax ring and not fix the problem. Sobieski eventually came out to fix the flange, but I still have not received my refund, which Sobieski stated they would provide. Just bad experience.

Mr. Johnson, your refund is on the way. Please accept our apologies regarding the incident. The Tile Company came in after the flange was set and put mortar on top of the flange and tiled above it, ultimately our team was their last and should have repaired the flange when we set the toilet.

I had an AC unit installed five years ago by Sobieski which was great, no problems. This summer I started having cooling problems and had Sobieski out several times. I had a leak test done and it was determined that my evaporator coil was bad. I was informed that this part was under warrantee but it would cost $2140 to replace. I asked the tech (DJ who was great) for an itemized receipt for this repair and he stated that we don't do that. The only thing on the receipt was HVAC service. I also was told verbally again nothing in writing that this was for 8 hours of work for two guys to replace the coil. I did agree to this thinking it was 8 hours for two guys to do. Fair price. When speaking with the Office representative about financing she said that the $2140 was for four hours for two guys still nothing in writing. I just had the work done and it was only two hours for two guys to complete the work and I was like wait this is a crazy price for two hours of work and again no paperwork received for service. I didn't even receive anything regarding warrantee on the new part. After calling the office several time and leaving messages I have not been a phone call back. Very poor customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

      Donna,
Our Managers have spoken to you over 5 times so far, including yesterday. We and many other companies use Flat Rate pricing not hourly labor. We have no idea where 8 hours came from, but for this type of job we generally ask our customer to block off half a day (4 hrs) - that is in case we run into any trouble and need extra time. The Flat Rate pricing does not change if we stay longer or leave earlier, so if the guys were at your house for 10 hours, the charge is the same. We have explained this to you multiple times. We are not taking advantage of anyone. We have emailed you all of the Tech's notes and invoice. We sincerely apologize that you have different pre-conceptions of how this industry works and we have made every attempt we can to fully and openly explain it to you. We will reach out to you again and listen to see if there is a different way to help you understand.

On several occasion I have called into the office to get an issue resolved with no resolution. I have yet to receive a call back from a manager. I have called and sent several emails on 4 different occasions and only met with "someone will call you back..."

Not only was the work completed incorrectly in my building - when it was finally identified the only recourse was to reverse what the technician did and provide a full refund. To date, I have not received my refund when it was advised it would take 10 -14 days. Spending over $4000.00 for work that was not completed and to now have to wait months before I can receive my money back or get a simple returned call is absolutely ridiculous.

I would not recommend this company and looking to get out of my existing contract with them to service my new unit.

      Hi Garland,
We sincerely apologize for your experience. At Sobieski Services, we aim to exceed customer expectations by providing high-quality services.
We processed your refund on 8/30. It should have gone back on the same credit card you used. We have had some issues with our computers and phones going down after the last big storm, however we did call you back several times on your office cell # and have even had the person calling you leave a message with her direct line so you could circumvent the Call Center and go direct to the person you need.

      Thank you.

I called four times and had to submit an online inquiry before someone called me back to actually address my inquiry, I was shocked at the lack of customer service. Upon completion of repair of hot water heater the technician asked for immediate payment which I didn’t have an issue with. My issue is that he told me that he could not provide me with an itemized invoice and or even a receipt as proof of payment. This leads to believe that they could be making up prices. It’s 2023, at the very least I should get a receipt at point of sale via text or email. When I asked the technician when I would receive an invoice and receipt he said by the end of day and then when I pushed back he said an hour. No receipt so I called the manager who was very helpful and polite and he said he would send me the receipt but I didn’t get it until the next day. He apologized and said they didn’t have my email address which I provided on several occasions and the technician should have verified it when taking my debit card payment.

Alfranetta, we sincerely apologize for your experience. At Sobieski Services, we aim to exceed customer expectations by providing high-quality services. You should not have to reach to management for a receipt, it should come from the Technician right away.
