Caring Transitions is a company you should avoid. The only ones to make any money when dealing with them is Caring Transitions. We were greatly overcharged for a move they did for us. We would have saved $3000 if we had gone with another company. We had a lower bid from that second company and at the end of our move Caring Transitions charged us more than their original bid so the difference between Caring Transitions and the other bid was $3000. We also were getting rid of some of our things and Caring Transitions would sell those things in an auction. That is why we decided to go with them. We turned over furniture and other items we paid more than$15,000 for. There was no meaningful advertising for the auction. They sent us a link to supposed advertising and when we clicked on it, there was no mention of our auction. The photos they took were so poor we didnt even recognize one of our own pieces of furniture. They supposedly send out an email to a list about the auction but they refuse to let us see the list and who is on it. We suspect many are resale stores. After all the subtractions for fees and other charges, including the bad pictures, Caring Transitions made much more on the sale than we did. We made Pennies on the dollar on our own things. Just to give one example of an auction price, a handmade dining table and eight chairs, all in excellent condition, brought us between$16 and $17 dollars FOR ALL OF THEM. Anyone reading this knows that is ridiculous. There is nothing caring about this horrible business unless caring about themselves counts. I would give zero stats if that were an option. Absolutely terrible!

We had a horrendous experience with Caring Transitions, specifically the ************ franchise. They were unreliable and unprofessional (late to every meeting or appointment we scheduled), unable to fulfill their commitments (they were 3 days late moving my 90-year old parents into their home), and unethical (the owner prioritized taking her dog to the vet for a non-emergency appointment over getting my parents into their place according to the timeframe they had promised). To top it all off, already 3 days late -- with half of the boxes still unpacked, furniture not in place, plus I and my kids and friends unpacking -- the owners walked off the job without even telling us (they simply disappeared). Then they sent me threatening and nasty messages when I refused to pay them the balance due. Regrettably, I reached out to the national company two times, filed detailed reports with a "senior manager", and was twice promised a return call from management, but I have yet to hear back. I am submitting my review to every magazine and website I can think of. Appalling customer service.

I have been screwed over time after time by this website. Each seller is allowed to make their own policies which are hidden in an essay of text below the listings. Be prepared to follow these policies to a tee or these sellers will keep your purchase and your money. Many sellers charge ridiculous shipping and handling fees. The shipping costs are not disclosed on the listing and they can charge you whatever they want after you have purchased an item. Be prepared to pay 25+ dollars for shipping on even the smallest of lots.My final straw for this website was when I had something come up and I was unable to make an auction pickup, the seller donated 80$ dollars worth of purchases and kept my money. I had been a loyal customer for this particular branch of CT bids for many months and they did not hesitate to throw me under the bus. As far as I can tell the website has no protection for buyers in situations like this. With sellers being allowed to do whatever they want and no protection for buyers from CT bids I have decided that this website is just not worth the risk.

When my father passed away, I desperately needed help going through his home, selling off items and organizing. I am his only heir and live about 3 hours away so I really needed a trusting company. I hired Caring Transitions of Loudoun County and spoke with ***************. He seemed so caring, explained their process and made it seem like they would really help me. He stressed how experienced they were at recognizing valuable items. He gave me a verbal quote of a *** of $5k. Fast forward and at the end of their "process" EVERYTHING in the house was gone. 80 years of life. Solid wood furniture pieces (that were supposed to be auctioned, etc.) And whatever else they found that they did not disclose to me. There were 2 cars I was auctioning as well. The only thing I was provided from the "auction" was a spreadsheet listing what items sold for. $2 - $3 for pieces of large wood dining tables, etc. When I got a bill, I still owed another $6,000 - and he said I would NOT receive any auction funds. This property was my entire future. In total he would walk away with over $11,000 - PLUS all items that are mssing. Items that were important which he acknowledges (in writing) their existence but has no idea where they are. He would not provide direct answers to questions about certain items. There was ZERO transparency and he did what he wanted to do with my property without consultation. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General, about a month later, I received an email from *************** saying since he hasn't heard from them, he was going to go ahead and place a lien on my home. There is still $3,000 that I am disputing. THIS GUY IS A PIECE OF WORK. No one tells you exactly what you're supposed to do when someone passes away, and I was handling this alone. *************** is a con man and scam artist. These are horrible people. Any answer they offer is only 10% of the full story. Thankfully, I have emails and text messages to back up everything I experienced.

Extremely disappointed in their services!! I believe they underestimated the amount of work and the cost of the service and then cut corners in order to make it fit. They threw many things away that could have been donated, they didn’t treat things with respect. They made lots of promises in the beginning and didn’t follow through! I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone!!
