When my relative died in 2022, the personal representative hired Rebecca Nohe Antique & Estate Sale Services to handle the estate sale. Under the will, the children inherited all the personal property in the house. But they were told not to remove anything except those items specifically devised to them, and to leave everything else in the house until the estate sale. In fact, ************ insisted that family members could not even enter the house for a couple weeks while she was setting up the sale. Family members waited because they understood that they would have a chance to preview the sale items before the sale date. They also assumed that any unsaleable items would be set aside for them. However, as it turned out, the children were not allowed into the sale before the general public, and they discovered that only a few personal items and photos had been saved for them. Everything else not included in the sale had disappeared! When questioned, ************ unapologetically replied that everything had been "donated, disposed, or shredded" -- without even asking the heirs, who were the rightful owners. Among the things that she removed without the family's consent: three metal file cabinets and their contents, including tax records; dishes; small appliances; hundreds of books; linens; utensils; clothing; and sentimental items. Most heartless of all, thirty-six birthday cards that the deceased person had received shortly before death, prominently displayed on the dining room table --where were they? Rebecca **** said "They were put in the dumpster!"Although Rebecca **** did ultimately hold a somewhat successful estate sale, she brazenly disposed of many, many items of the family's property without their consent. She should not be trusted to handle anyone else's property.
