Chronology of grief with contractor 'Nino **********************'I am a CA licensed General Contractor since 1982, with an impeccable record. I turn 89 in November. I have owned 2.5 acres in ************ since 1998. The County of San Bernardino required a geological seismic study in order to apply for a building Permit. Toward the beginning of 2023, I was referred to Mr. ********************** of 'Ficara Grading & Excavating', by my neighbor *********************** who did **********************'s tractor repair. None of my other neighbors ever heard of Mr. **********************.At the beginning of February 2024, I phoned Mr. ********************** and left voice messages. I sent texts, plus mailed a letter to the address of his father. Because I had allowed him to use my portable toilet, and referred him to my Geologist, I could not imagine he would ignore me and not make a 20 second response. But because I did not want to lose my Geologists window of 'weather opportunity', I began seeking bids from other local contractors. After one month Mr. ********************** called to apologize for not responding and we scheduled for March 25th. On Monday the 18th, Mr. ********************** stated that his $10,000 quote was for only one-half of my required 200 foot trenching. I looked back thru other grading quotes and found one for the entire job at just over $5,000. On 3/20/24, five days prior to our scheduled work date, I composed a gracious cancellation text which I sent him. That night I received a slew of threatening texts and harassments. He stated he was going to discourage every other local contractor in the area from working with me. When the contractor I hired finished my job, new abusive and threatening pages of texts began arriving. Furthermore, he went to some of my neighbors, 'bad-mouthing' me to them. All of this over 2.5 days of grading! He gave me a quote, and then because I did not hire him, he became vindictive. Senior citizens and potential customers, do not deserve this manner of treatment, from any contractor, for any reason, anywhere nor at anytime!
