January 15, 2025 I had a county inspection for a new water heater that has been installed by Roto Rooter. The inspector *** showed up, and as he was approaching the water heater he stated he was sorry, but that he was shutting off the water heater right now. He knew immediately that the water heater that was installed was natural gas, not the required propane. He said the propane had to be shut off immediately because of very high fire danger risk. He also removed insulation as he said that was also installed in a dangerous way. He said it was not a question of if I would have a fire, but when. And that my family was fortunate we had not had a fire at 2 am the previous night. The inspector *** emailed Roto-Rooter about the dangerous safety issue before he even left my home. This was made even more stressful by the current fires burning in *******************. To think I almost started Northern California on fire!! I was told it was an inexperienced tech, so I said I did not want the same technician coming back, as I was not confident at all in his ability to install a safe water heater. Installing a natural gas water heater on propane is considered very dangerous as it can lead to potential malfunctions, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning due to the different pressure and combustion characteristics of the two gases; a natural gas appliance is not designed to handle the higher pressure of propane, potentially causing an overly intense flame or even an explosion. I tried to compromise and asked for a refund of the labor cost, as it had clearly been incorrectly installed, and we were out days and days longer with no hot water. They would not agree to refund the entire cost of the labor. I would not use this dangerous installer.

Dear Ms. ******** understand your concern regarding the water heater installation and want to assure you that safety is our top priority. After a thorough review, **** confirmed with the water heater manufacturer that the unit was installed properly and passed all inspections. Additionally, the manufacturer has confirmed that there were no risks of explosion or immediate danger with the installation. We acknowledge the stress this situation caused, especially considering the fire risks in **********. To ensure your satisfaction, we did issue you a $400 refund, as a gesture of goodwill. We hope this reflects our commitment to resolving the issue and addressing your concerns. Please know that we are continuously working to improve our service and technician training to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss the matter, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service team at *******************************************

A county inspector is trained to identify safety violations. He said this was an "extremely dangerous" installation. It was very easy to do a ****** search and find out just how dangerous it is, and references that it should NEVER be done. As a consumer, I should be able to trust the competence of your installers. I was also lied to about the water heater box being "mislabeled", which was later confirmed to be a lie.***************************************************************************************************************************************************************.

ZERO. Horrible, horrible service. Got an estimate for $2,500. Then a revised estimate for over $15,000. Never got a call back about the job after the THIRD tech showed up

Would not use ever again. Crooked upsell and did not honor the original quote. Went with another company that did the work promptly, No BS, and at a cost of $11,000 less than what the second roto guy quoted- after the first guy quoted $2200. Very shady.

Horrible set up feels like a trap to get at least 40 bucks out of us.I have a bathtub clog they wouldn't give me a price over the phone. Said ************************************************************************************* the bathroom door and said ******.Well there goes 40 bucks for a so called inspection. Where I come from a inspection involves more than just showing up and listening to the exact words I said over the phone in person.I should have at least recieved a detailed report on what may be the problem and how to fix it.

Communication was great. The deal breaker was their proposal which was going to charge $550 to remove and reinstall one toilet. Ridiculous price.

I had water damage in my home, in *********. I called Roto Rooter and they sent the nicest young man to help and support. He directed me to their restoration department. **** and his team, ***** Faith, ****** and **** have been fantastic to work with. I appreciated the time and energy they put into helping me through an extremely stressful process. All of my collaboration and work with Roto Rooter's restoration team has been helpful, they are knowledgeable and friendly. My insurance company on the other hand ...not great. Thank you **** and team!

One of their employees deliberately broke the bathroom faucet during maintenance work. Then a manager came and said the faucet was broken, and he didn't even check it, but charged a high price more $2600 for repair. Very bad service attitude. They didn't give me a receipt and said it would be sent to my email in 72 hours. Do not choose this repair compan. Never Never never

I was told by the technician the Roto Rooter company charges $400 an hour. The technician was very good and did a great job but the price was ridiculous.
