The university of California riverside is committing health insurance fraud. They have created a policy that violates the students constitutional and civil rights and disregards the affordable care act . When a student registers they automatically attach a 800 dollar charge for health insurance. The students dont check a box ** does that for them. Next they give a deadline for student to present proof of their health insurance. If the student forgets or misses the deadline they threaten the student with expulsion even if they have paid a full tuition. This way *** have created a side business of insurance sale that generate revenue for University of California. They refuse to accept the student health insurance information after the deadline or reimburse the student and force the student to pay for two health insurances. Some of the students are taking online classes or commute and will never use the health insurance but have to pay . Many students once in their academic career have fallen into this trap. The university of California is using loopholes to force students purchase a secondary health insurance that they will never use. This is unethical and for an academic institution to do this what example are they setting for students. I request first that ** change their policy and not automatically charge the students UC health insurance if they have not chosen it. The affordable care act requires students to carry health insurance and ** are trying to compete. They have made a illegal policy that in order to get a education in our schools you have to buy our health insurance from ** . Each year the ** are illegally taking money from vulnerable students and families. The plan that they offer is very expensive 800 dollars for ten weeks quarter and more than what students can get on the free market . Students should not be forced to get ************.
