This company pretends to be Geek Squad with Best Buy. I spoke with ******* who I asked if he was with Best Buy and he said yes which he is not! Before I found out about the scamming he took over my computer to try and fix it and then something just didn't seem right to me. When I called him back he answered the phone with just a "Helo" which I found odd. I did give him access to my computer which he started scanning to try and find bugs. I looked again online and put in Geek Squad with Best Buy and I called that number and got a totally different recording and greeting. I immediately shut down my computer and logged him out. ******* calls me back and said we go disconnected and I said no we didn't I l disconnected you because you are a scammer. I immediately told him I was reporting him for fraud which I did through the ********** of ******* and now I'm filing a complaint here. We have got to stop these people, it is just not safe doing business on the internet anymore. So many scammers!!! Beware, this guy is pretending to be with Best Buy.***********************

I googled Geek Squad and accidentally clicked on the Geek Care website. In the chat, I explained that my printer was broken and I was looking for info on a repair. I was told they could fix the problem for me remotely and I gave permission for them to access my laptop. (Still thinking it was Geek Squad). After about 10 minutes they determined I had a lot of bad files on my laptop (a MacBook Air) and they they could clean this up and install a filter that would keep my machine clean and clear up the issue with my printer. Eventually they called me back to say they fixed the problem and I should try printing. The printer was working. They then asked for payment by check scanned from my printer. That’s when I really became suspicious. I asked to pay by credit card but they would not accept a card. And amazingly, the printer error appeared again. I mentioned this to them and was told it was obviously a hardware problem but that the scanner was working so I should proceed with payment. I refused. I asked them tech to remove the software he’d installed because I would not pay. He refused and insisted on payment. I asked to speak with a manager and he refused to put me through. I once again refused to pay and said he could leave the software or remove it. It was removed to the best of my knowledge. Looking back, there were several clues that I was being scammed but I’m not very tech savvy so I believed all the malarkey. My laptop is now with the actual Geek Squad and will be thoroughly cleaned and updated. I’m currently changing passwords just in case. Lesson learned…the hard way.
