Working with Hi-Desert Dwellings has been enjoyable. For three years, my partner and I rented our home. We worked with a property management business called HDD. They are professional, sincere, diligent, and the finest at what they do, thus I feel privileged to have their services. They genuinely go above and above to keep the owner and visitors satisfied.

Awful experience. The company cancelled our reservation at the time of our check-in, leaving our family of six with nowhere to stay in Joshua Tree for two nights. There was no offer by the company to compensate us in any manner for our troubles... they simply told us that they were "sorry for the inconvenience." We had made this reservation roughly 9 months in advance. We connected with the company one month prior to check-in and everything was a "go" at that time. On the morning of our check-in the company sent us check-in details and how to access the home. We asked the company if we could check-in 30 minutes early, and the company responded that the house was being cleaned and that we could not check in early. When we finally arrived at the home (about an hour after the designated check-in time), the company cancelled our reservation (via e-mail) and told us that there had been a "mix up" and that we would need to find somewhere else to stay. We spent the next two-and-a-half hours on the phone with this company and AirBNB trying to resolve the matter, only to learn that the house had been sold 3 months earlier, and it was no longer a rental property. We were told that our money (paid over 9 months ago) would be refunded in full; however, neither this company nor AirBNB offered anything else. We spent the next three hours trying to find a hotel that had vacancy for two nights for a family of six. We were tired from the day's activities, had not eaten dinner yet, and were very stressed by this situation. We were finally able to find a run-down MOTEL that had two rooms with two queen beds each. It was not very nice, but better than sleeping in the car. I would recommend staying away from any properties managed by this company. If they don't realize that a house (that they professionally manage) was sold three months ago and is no longer available for rent, I can't imagine what else might fall thru the cracks

This was a very unfortunate situation. The home ***** and his family rented was sold. We were told from the owner of the property that she had cancelled all of the reservations that were made for her property. We believe what we were told, and we should have double checked that was accurate. We have automated messages that go out to the guests with check-in information and directions and everything needed. When we found out what was going on, I (the owner of the company) personally called ***** and spoke with him on the phone. We offered other accommodations but we explained that they were not at the caliber of the home he had originally booked. He and his family did not want a lower-end home. I told him that we would be issuing him a full refund of his money and apologized multiple times for the mix up and also reached out to Airbnb to make sure they were able to host him and his family. It was our understanding from Airbnb, that in situations like this that Airbnb helps the guest find a new home and upgrades their property. I am sorry if that is not how Airbnb responded to the situation at hand and at the time and endlessly apologized to ***** and his family that the reservation wasn’t cancelled or caught earlier. We have learned from this experience and we will do better for our future guests.
