My daughter is completing her BSN in nursing at West Coast University. Not only is this accelerated program extremely expensive, the campus director and **** are very unhelpful and unfair! My daughter has not missed one day of class nor has she ever been late regardless of her being sick the circumstances of her, losing her grandmother and so forth, she has made every single class without any excuse. She missed one class and took accountability for setting her alarm incorrectly instead of setting it for an a.m. time it was set for p.m.. She has emailed her professor right away to make her aware of why she missed class and her professor responded back via email stating to reach out to a classmate to retrieve the notes and upload the assignment which my daughter immediate did. We have everything in writing, 2 days later the campus director has reached out to my daughter cold heartedly to advise that there is no exceptions made, but to drop her class and clinicals Meaning she will have to retake this course. The **** asked me why I was calling on behalf of my daughter as my daughter is an adults and can speak for herself. The reason why I called was because they wouldnt hear my daughter out and didnt care to listen. I will make sure that I put a review in every single outlet that allows me to so that I could warn the students and the parents of what they will go through at West Coast University. The campus director and **** are unhelpful they un motivate the kids by trier extremely strict rules. They will drop you for missing one class regardless of the reasoning. You can lose a family member or be sick and they will advise you that you cannot miss class. Very unreasonable! I've asked them to outline the guidelines in the handbook to show me online, which has no merit to their argument and they have failed .I am seeking legal advise.Review fromMichael P

A close relative of mine (name not disclosed for fears of retaliation) failed her recent class in Pediatrics held at the *****, ** location for which they tested for this month. All this began when the original teacher for the end 2023 semester, had to leave due to pregnancy and was replaced by someone less competent who taught from her experience, instead of the assigned material. She literally would teach as "this is what the book says but this is how it's done in the hisoital." The teacher followed her own agenda but tested the students using West Coast material, the students were placed at a disadvantage. Most of the class failed and what this looks like is a waste of time and a complete scam. West Coast needs to make this right. You cannot continue to hire part time nurses from ************************* and **************** of ***** who may not necessarily have experience in teaching. And we all know it's hard to find instructors but to save face and still make money, West Coast puts anyone they can get to teach. So when the majority of class fails or barely passes, it's the instructor that West Coast placed there that is at fault. My relative is not working just to get thru school full time and lost almost $2,000 for this class, and now a other $2,000 to repeat the class because YOUR INSTRUCTOR TAUGHT AS THYE SAW FIT BUT TESTED THEM ON DIFFERNET MATERIAL. You are a scam and a phony institution, and are there to take money but deliver a sub-par education. This school is a disgrace.Review fromAnnie H

I was a nursing student in ******* with a **** GPA and nine months left in school. Personal struggles due to a family loss affected my performance. Facing a delay in obtaining a doctors note for health forms, I submitted prior forms with updated dates. The clinical team questioned authenticity and, in a meeting, was threatened by the clinical **** to contact my physician without my consent. Despite explaining and ultimately clearing the forms, I was accused of forging documents, leading to dismissal without a chance to rectify the mistake. The administration, lacking support during personal struggles, disregarded my prior academic standing. Additionally, promises like simulation labs werent fulfilled, impacting our preparation for clinical shifts. The administration failed to provide necessary support for student success.Review fromAmber Y

West Coast University ruined my life. I am a single mother with three children (two have disabilities) and I enrolled into the *** to BSN program during covid, while having a newborn so I could afford to care for my children in the long run. I was almost a couple of months shy of graduating and had failed a drug screening due to my CBD usage (which the university and clinical staff were aware of; I had told them the last test I took). I was taking CBD due to my OCD/anxiety/insomnia diagnosis received throughout the time I spent at school. While in school my grandparents died and my adopted dad died, I was going through a lot of issues and informed the school via an appeal letter when they tried kicking me out due to my drug screening. The appeal was approved under the conditions I take two more drug tests, get on medication for my disabilities, and find child care so I would be able to study more. I passed all the requirements, got myself on 2 medications (anxiety/sleep), and even paid for childcare after my work hours. I literally was sitting in my new class after buying my books, taking out another loan, and jumping through all the hoops and loops they asked..... just to get hit with an email saying I was dismissed from the university, AFTER BEING TOLD I COULD CONTINUE & BEING ASKED TO TAKE OUT ANOTHER LOAN!!!!!! ************ (student advisor) did not advise me I would be kicked out and said "Everything is being taken care of" and ************************* (clinical staff) left me a detailed voicemail that the clinical I missed (due to waiting two weeks for the *** to get back into town and then schedule the appeal meeting) could be retaken after my Pediatric rotation so I could stay on track. NOBODY told me I would be kicked out regardless of everything I did that the committee meeting told me to do. I am now stuck making the same pay as before and now having to pay back tens of thousands of dollars. This school is horrible! I have been having panic attacks daily due to this!Review fromNicole D

This school is exactly what all the reviews say. The teachers write grammatically incorrect exams written by themselves the day before a test. The exams also have many misspelled medical terms. The PowerPoints have medical terminology misspelled where my own ********* word changed and fixed the downloaded PowerPoints to the correct spelling. The staff is abusive, condescending, demeaning and try to bully students to intimidation. They gas light students and try to cause the students questioning the unprofessionalism to look stupid and unintelligent. The teachers are discriminatory, abusive and racist to students of a different ethnicity then them. I have worked at for profit schools, I really do not know what else to say. Before I arrived here, I read these bad reviews online and ignored them and thought I would have a different experience. I did not, the people writing these reviews are telling the truth and I do not regret trying this school out to see for myself but I will be getting my nursing degree a different route at a local community college where the professors and staff care about the students. Here are the names to not trust, **************, ************, *************************, ***********************, the list goes on. These people will talk down to you, tell you to talk to them a certain way and try to bully and intimidate you until you give in to paying them thousands of dollars. This school needs to fix their ways or get shut down. They need to treat students with respect and honor not bully them and discriminate.Review fromMs. M

I was a student here and finished my degree in 2022. While the instructors and education were decent, please be mindful of financial aid. I am a veteran and submitted my DD214 to receive the veteran discount and in the beginning, they said everything looked good. Then the last month of my degree, all of the sudden there was something wrong with my DD214 (wrong copy). So I provided that copy, then all was good. Then the last week of school, I get a call that they cannot honor the veteran discount because the verbiage in the discharge type box was wrong. I was discharged under honorable circumstances and receive disability pay every month so this alone should be MORE than enough (minus the verbiage) to have me get the veteran discount. I was then told I would have to get a lawyer to get the verbiage changed to proceed with the discount. By this point, I was officially graduated and had my diploma in hand. The women I spoke with at the ****** financial aid office were horribly disrespectful and unable to help. They said get a lawyer, get it changed, then the discount will be applied. Well, who is going to pay for that lawyer?! Not me, I don't have that kind of money. The fact that they WAITED until the very last second to tell me that my DD214 would not be accepted is ridiculous and makes me think they did that on purpose to collect more money. If you're a veteran, stay away from here, take your education elsewhere that will treat you better. If you are a civilian, I still say go elsewhere because if they treat veterans this way, then they will treat everyone this way.Review fromJB B

If you are a veteran looking at the online MSN/NP program be advised you will not be given full BAH during clinicals. The school requires you to attend 20 hours a week in person instruction, but is listed as an online only modality. There are better options. They are also dishonest about clinical placement. They do not assist at first. Only after you have had five failed attempts at finding a preceptor. Run, run, run!Review fromMC G

Please run away from this school!!!!! I don't know if this review will "still" make sense at all...seems like, WCU is so used to it. and (enjoying it?) let me start....1. you will never get a straight answer from these people, if you do-->it will be a "generic answer"., 2. yes, they will never help you find a preceptor or clinical site--> they will "only" give you the list (from health grades site). The worst part of my experience is, their rubric system. I am one of those who failed the predictor exam, and this made them decide to hold me/us on my graduation., and yes, they asked me/us to retake the whole 8 weeks course with the same rubric, the same scale...of course, re-taker have to pay for it (there's money again). The rubric shows "all or none/passing or non passing"., if you review the rubric, 600 points are given to the predictor exam and the other 400 points are from the clinicals, documentation, video modules....there is too much to explain., but the bottom line is, they managed this poorly., they resorted for "retake" right away, and hold the students, just because they failed the predictor exam, instead of offering a remedial/retake with same rubric. Please do not go to this university, do not believe in their social media advertisement, it is enticing, but it is all show.Review fromnochu b

please do not go to this awful school! They ONLY care about money, you can be in finals week and they hound you for the money, professors miss classes and will not tell you but god forbid you as the student are late/absent they reprimand you. no clinical placements yet we have to pay the full amount, professors all have severe attitude problems get extremely upset when you ask questions and/or they simply ignore you. they are such hypocrites and adjust rules to fit their need/s and protect the "school and staff". they act like they care but in all reality if they did all of the comments concerns (which are all the same) would be fixed instead they waste their time on BBB trying to defend themselves and continuing to disregard THE PEOPLE THAY PAY ALL THEIR SALARIES!!! DO NOT FORGET WITHOUT STUDENTS NONE OF YOU WOULD HAVE JOBS AT THIS HORRIBLE SCHOOL. SICK OF IT AND REGRET MY DECISION OF ATTENDING SUCH SCUMBAG SCHOOL. I *** NOT WANT TO READ A REPLY FROM THIS SCHOOL INSTEAD FIX IT!!!!!
