publichomecheck.com charged my credit card 9 times $23.95 when on 11/22/22 I only requested a single document search to be conducted on a property I needed information on in New Jersey. I'm a licensed Realtor and understood that when I signed up for Public Home Check that I was only paying for one search for $1. They subsequently debited my Credit Card 9 times for $23.95. When I noticed the multiple charges on my credit card I contacted the company on November 1st and they agreed to reimburse the additional charges. As you can see from my attached bank statement they only credited me 3 month of the 9 months of charges. I called again in early December and the woman I spoke to said that I needed to cancel the subscription. I told her I didn't order any subscription, I only ordered the one report that was advertised for $1. She told me there was nothing she could do about it since this was their policy. If you look at other reviews on this company many people are complaining of the same situation. They advertise one property report for $1 and then the company hits you month charges of $23.95. Also if you look at their website their monthly subscription is for $29.95 not $23.95. The company still owes me $143.70. It's an obvious bait and switch tactic they use luring you in to obtain a report for $1 and once they get your CC information, the bill you monthly for $24.95 a month. Even their published Terms are: "SALES TERMS * One Time $1.00 Report Receive a single report for $1.00. This is a one-time fee, for a single report. Our customer service phone is XXXXX. In addition to our refund policy we also offer a search credit for any unsuccessful search. * No mention that you have to cancel any subscription. This company is a scam.

I called to cancel my subscription in November and was told I would be given a refund within 7 days. However not only was I not given the reund the lying customer service representative didn't cancel my subscription either. Now I have been billed again. Furious. Very poor ethics here for a company that is supposed to have true facts of a person's history for others to access. ??

Public Data Check uses your personal information to gain access to your financial information that is on file with some of these internet search engines such as Microsoft. If you have had an encounter with this company you have to cancel your credit or debit card with your financial institution and they will report it as probably stolen. If the BBB gets enough complaints about Public Data Check they will get a poor rating as they should. Peace and blessings to all.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Sick of scam artists like these tricking people under false pretenses into providing information that they can turn around and sell. Is there no way to report these criminals and scum like them and put an end to this fraudulent larceny? Guess not since Google condones even encourages crap like that along with false information as long as the low life entity sponsors with misleading advertisement. Think I'll toss the sinful fruit of knowledge right back to the devil.

This company has been charging my credit card $4.96 monthly for over a year. When I contacted them, they claim they have no record of me ever being a customer and deny charging me. They also asked for a copy of my "Welcome to Public Data Check" email and account number, neither of which exist. If you call their toll-free number, you will be put on hold and then abruptly disconnected. I have no earthly idea how they got my credit card number in order to start charging this bogus fee. My bank's fraud department is investigating the matter. It is easy to overlook a little recurrent charge like this especially since it began during the peak of the COVID pandemic. Perhaps that it what this company is counting on because in reviewing other posted complaints, this is a common thread. Hopefully some organization with authority and clout will resolve this major scam.

This company should be closed down. I agree with many of the comments below. I don't know how they got my credit card information. Hopefully, my credit card company can get this sorted out. The BBB doesn't seem to take notice of all the negative comments. I hate that there is not a zero-star option.

Somehow this public data check bs got my credit card info, cuz I sure as hell never gave it to them. I'm extremely cautious about using my credit card online so I know for a fact I didn't give it to them. Royal Bank is doing an investigation, and refunding the money that was taken from my account. $41 was taken from my account at the end of each month for the last 4 months. I'm so thankful RBC is taking care of it. They canceled my card and issued me a new one and I'm just relieved to be getting my money back. I would still like to know how these guys got their hands on my info though.
