The "Keep Your Tux" offer is completely misleading to the point of being a blatant scam. After renting your tux, you get an email with an offer: "Keep the things you love, and we'll apply what you've already paid to rent toward the price to buy the item(s) you'd like to keep." The email then has a list of the rented items, along with the "Buy it New" price and "Your Price." The clear implication is that the several hundred dollars you've already paid towards your rental will be deducted from "Your Price," but alas, no, the rental has already been mysteriously counted towards the price, with no transparency on how the rental is applied to each item you may want to keep. And the customer service is abysmal - emails that aren't responded to in a timely manner, and long waits on the phone to speak with people who barely speak English.Review fromRachel K

Do not rent from them! I have never experienced such unprofessional, unethical, and incompetent treatment from a company. My fiance went and got his tux fitted and ordered in July for our 9/14 wedding. The contract said we would get the tux ten days before our wedding. Eight days out, we never received any communication and called the hotline (you cannot call the actual stores). We were told they "didn't know why it wasn't sent but would be overnighted and it would arrive no later than the next two days." Two days comes and does, no tux. We call again and they said it was still not sent out and they don't know why but it would be overnighted again and be there Tuesday 9/10. Tuesday comes, no tux. Call again and they said, "we PROMISE it will arrive Wednesday, 9/11." I asked what happens now if it doesn't fit? They said it they will overnight new items if needed (sure). We get to Thursday 9/12 STILL NO TUX, lied to over and over again. ***** then "tries" to deliver to The Black Tux store but "no one was there to accept it." So on late Thursday evening, we had to go to the *************** to get it. Guess what? Two items don't fit. We went to Men's Warehouse who saved our wedding and got us a beautiful tux that day just in time for our Saturday 9/14 wedding. No bride or groom should EVER have to deal with this stress and being continuously gaslit and lied to. By the way, Men's Warehouse says this has started happening with Black Tux frequently and they get a lot of panicked brides and ******. Save yourself stress, go elsewhere.Black Tux

Horrible customer service! We sent a personal suit back by mistake. Realized our mistake and sent the rental suit back a few days later. We have been unable to get our personal suit back!! Yes, our mistake but we sent email and spoke with customer service several times. We also assured we would pay shipping to get our personal suit back! Just awful serviceReview fromNick P.

Although the Black Tux is very pricey, the customer service is amazing. I spoke to a gentleman named **** and he was very kind and accommodating. I had a wonderful experience with connecting to him. He explained the policies, I explained our situation, and we worked it out in less than 5 minutes.Review fromRy A

Headline: $60 in fees for one day of shipping delay.A 48-hour turnaround post-event to pack and return the rented garment is unrealistic for people spending the next day with the bridal party and requiring a full day to travel home. It's just brazen disregard for customer experience, and clearly a means for the company to rake in additional revenue by gouging their customers for pure profit. To be clear, I understand and support a realistic late return fee to offset lost revenue on inventory they aren't able to rent, but more than 1/3 of the rental price is disgusting. I will endeavor to ensure no one that I know ever uses this service (if you can even call it that - their employees should be ashamed).Review fromChandler S

When returning my tux, I accidentally had not taken my own suit out of the packaging and it was shipped with the rental tux. While I understand the Lost and Found policy and that TheBlackTux is not responsible for personal items, I did notify customer service before my tux had even reached the warehouse. So, they had a heads up and knew the box was on its way. Considering they definitely check inventory to make sure their products are returned, they must have noticed the extra suit that came along within my box. Plus, the company knew of this before my box arrived to the warehouse. Nevertheless, the employee I spoke with just submitted a Lost and Found report and did not contact the warehouse to have them be on the lookout. I emailed to follow up and he did not respond. TWO WEEKS later, another employee emailed me, "Sorry for the wait. So and so is out of the office, and I will be taking over." He is out of the office? That is something an automatic email reply would say. Instead, she took over after two weeks of me not receiving a reply. This new employee informed me that my suit was indeed not located. Since I notified TheBlackTux well before the package arrived, it was my expectation that an unassociated, unlabeled suit would have drawn attention and been reported to Lost and Found. Since we corresponded prior to package arrival, I also imagined that someone could have been looking for my suit. This did not happen and I am extremely disappointed with my experience. Again, I understand the company is not responsible for personal items, but I am disappointed in their communication as well as their lack of initiative to notify the warehouse when my shipment had not yet even arrived.Black Tux

Hi Chandler,
Thank you for the review. We understand that we dropped the ball on communication about your personal items that were returned with your rental order, and I apologize for that! I have notified management and it will be something we work harder to ensure doesn't happen again. Our warehouses are very busy packing, sending out orders, receiving orders and scanning returned items back into the system. As a reminder of our Rental Agreement and more specifically on personal items returned to us, it states the following:
Personal Items: WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY PERSONAL ITEMS LEFT IN THE PRODUCTS OR THAT YOU OTHERWISE RETURN TO US IN YOUR SHIPPING BOX. WE WILL NOT REFUND (IN PART OR IN FULL) ANY ORDERS OR REIMBURSE THE COSTS OF ANY PERSONAL ITEMS YOU RETURN TO US. In the event that you accidentally return a personal item to us in your shipping box, you may reach out to our Customer Care team and provide all necessary information to help us identify the item. We may attempt to locate any personal items you believe you have returned to us upon receiving your request, but we are not obligated to do so and assume no liability for such personal items. If we are able to locate your personal item(s), we will attempt to ship the items back to you at the address you have provided and will charge your credit card on file for the associated shipping costs. We will not be liable for any personal items that are damaged or lost in transit. Please allow up to 21 business days for us to process, locate and ship any found personal item(s) back to your desired address. We do not ship to P.O. Box addresses nor do we ship outside of the contiguous United States. We will not return any items that cannot be legally shipped, and we will not return cash, credit cards, or debit cards. Our warehouses immediately shred any credit or debit cards that are found. Any personal items left unclaimed within seven (7) days of return will be destroyed or donated to a charity of our choosing.
