On April 16, 2024, BBB requested Dr. Kari Young to modify, substantiate, or discontinue claims made on their website (https://www.drkariyoung.com/) that read, "Dr. Young Heal Autoimmune Naturally", A video titled "How to HEAL Autoimmune Naturally & Finally Live the Life of Your DREAMS", and "How to heal with a scientifically-proven action plan". Additionally, on the company's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/drkyoungautoimmuneexpert/) it read, "Dr. Young Heal Autoimmune Naturally". Additionally, on the company's LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-kari-young-33189510) it read, "...my team and I will teach you how your own body can heal itself naturally!" and "...As a lifelong learner, she became certified in Functional Medicine, and now holds a Cellular Healing Specialist designation." Advertisers must be prepared to substantiate such claims per BBB's Code of Advertising.
BBB's Code of Advertising Section 34 states, Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. Additionally, BBB's Code of Advertising Section 1 states, The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.
From April 19, 2024 through June 8, 2024 the business and BBB were in communication, primarily through email, to resolve the above mentioned ad concerns. BBB emailed the business on July 2, 2024 as a final attempt to address the ad concerns.
As of July 2, 2024, the business has not responded to BBB's request.
