This company just sent me a letter that the ************************ has transferred my $754.65 refund into a third party trust account on my behalf. They then proceed to ask for my drivers license and Social Security number to be sent by mail. If anyone gets a letter like this PLEASE do NOT fall for this scam!!BBB NEEDS to shut this company down ****!

In my opinion, Joseph Richards & Associates is not a scam, but rather a business that exhibits questionable practices. Despite their claim of a Money Back Guarantee in their letter, they failed to deliver the promised refund after I sent them my payment. It appears that the refund is only applicable if your claim is denied, which was not clearly stated. Moreover, they claim to have sent me a claims email for processing, but I never received it. Unfortunately, my experience suggests that sending money to them is essentially wasting it, especially considering that the same services can be obtained for free through the State of CA.

I agree with what other wrote. Additionally, they are asking for limited power of attorney for an unknown person. This is extremely dangerous and unethical!

This company is a SCAM. They are asking for payment to "claim" money that is already yours. This information can easily be found on the State Controller's site. There is NO customer service; this company should be investigated.

Not a scam, but definitely predatory. You can claim the assets yourself, free-of-charge by Googling "Unclaimed assets " to find the website for the state that holds your assets. Typically the state name will be the state where you lived when assets didn't arrive to you. Every state I know of has a website to claim the assets. For California, it's https://www.sco.ca.gov/upd_msg.html.
