- Advertising Review:
On March 7, 2023, BBB requested Harbor Home Warranty to modify, substantiate, or discontinue claims on their mail advertising that read:
“Extremely Urgent & Time Sensitive - Immediate Response Requested”
“Please Call IMMEDIATELY as this will be our FINAL ATTEMPT…”
“IMMEDIATE RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE REQUESTED”

Advertisers must be prepared to substantiate such claims per BBB's Code of Advertising.
1. Basic Principles of the Code, Advertisements should be truthful, sincere offers to sell. Advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. All advertising that may mislead or deceive consumers should be avoided. 20. Warranties or Guarantees, When using the term “warranty” or “guarantee” the advertiser should clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the warranty can be seen prior to the sale which could include putting it on the seller’s website. Advertisers should disclose any material limitations on a "satisfaction guarantee" or "money back guarantee" and define, for consumers, the meaning of claims such as "lifetime guarantee."
On March 28, 2023, BBB received a response from the business with revised advertising but it did not address all advertising. On March 28, 2023, BBB spoke to the business to go over its advertising claims and offered an extension for the response.
As of April 11, 2023, the business has not responded to BBB.
