BBB has received information that this business solicits consumers immediately after having malware messages on their computers. On September 1, 2016, BBB offered Jupiter Support the opportunity to preserve self-regulation in the marketplace by clarifying current business practices.
Jupiter Support informed BBB the business does not solicit consumers by phone. The business indicated consumers call the business or complete a form online on the business' website, www.jupitersupport.com, to request computer repair services. Jupiter Support also indicated the business utilizes a chat box on the business website to provide quick, real-time customer service.
According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), consumers should use caution when requesting tech support services from businesses:
•Don’t give control of your computer to someone who says they need to activate software. Instead, look carefully at the software instructions to learn how to activate the software yourself.
•Don’t give control of your computer to someone who calls you out of the blue claiming to be from tech support. Instead, hang up and call the company at a number you know to be correct.
•Never provide your credit card information, financial information, or passwords to someone who claims to be from tech support.
