Refund was denied because I needed to care for my stepfather that has Alzheimers but according to Fan Shield powered by Protecht INC I needed medical documentation of the day of the event, THAT I couldnt make it because I am his caretaker. So, I provided a medical documentation stating his illness (although, I already thought it was very intrusive I provided said document) They denied the claim. I called 10 times on 10/31/2023 and 10 times today 11/01/2023. 1 person picked up and said they couldnt hear me so they were going to place the call as a non-response & hung up I was on the line saying hello, Im here hoping she doesnt hang up. To my horror the dial tone was dead. Finally got through on the 4th try after & ******** said she would bump my case to a support specialist and will be in contact with me usually within 48hrs. We shall see. I will keep everyone updated. #IsThisScamLikely #ProtechtINC #FanShieldProtecht Inc

Buying insurance for the race and camping at ********* this October seemed like a good idea; however, after my truck broke down while towing my camper to the race on the Wednesday before the race, I realized it was a waste of money. In turning down my claim twice, they said it had to happen within 48 hours of the event, the Sunday race I assume. My ticket was for infield camping, and I tried to go when the campgrounds opened. I could not have my truck serviced for the transmission problem for almost two weeks. I even provided a receipt showing the nearly $500 I paid to fix the truck. The company should be more forthcoming with more straightforward language that arriving a few days before the race to take advantage of the $500 camping fee isnt covered. Their agreement is more about what isnt said than what is said. If Protecht isnt going to be more upfront, then maybe *********************** should consider a better partner. Im unhappy about the financial loss and sad I missed my first race in years.Protecht Inc

Horrible company that takes advantage and does not follow through with their claim to cover your ticket due to illness! I wished I had looked up these reviews before I purchased the insurance. They seem to be obsessed with covid and I immediately got an email asking for my PCR test. I said I never had a covid or a PCR test I had a panic attack which is why I couldn't attend the event I had a mental health episode. And they told me that it wasn't covered! Whereas I looked up their rules and it said any injury or illness is covered. And you would get your money back. Then they wrote me that mental health episodes are not covered! That is disgusting. I am so offended at that. Do not trust this company and do not buy their insurance. You will not get your money back and your ticket covered. Now I'm stuck with my ticket! For an event that I did not attend. What was the point of buying this insurance?Protecht Inc

Fanshield is a SCAM and definitely does NOT cover what they advertise before purchasing your tickets !! They even highlight (twice!) how important it is to purchase the coverage before finishing the purchase. My friend tested positive for Covid 3 days prior to a Dodger game, (Test was a Home Test) and a picture of the positive Covid results did NOT suffice for a Refund. A total of 6 tickets were purchased and the request for the refund was only for this couple's. My friends did the right thing by not attending a game and preventing the spread and I trusted Fanshield's statements of coverage and elected and paid for it. I'm soooooo DISAPPOINTED that the ******* and *** allow this company to offer this service.Protecht Inc

For themselves, NOT fans. If I purchase insurance, it shouldnt matter at all why I cant go to the event. I buy insurance to get a refund (knowing itll probably only be partial) in case something happens that prevents ** from going, period. You dont need proof of anything thats my business. I will not be doing business with any venue that uses these thieves.Protecht Inc

I had a stroke on Easter. I purchased tickets 04/21 for the Pirates game on May 6th. On April 24th I had recurrence of stroke symptoms that required another ambulance and another emergency department visit (none of which are free or cheap). My neurologist told me that I need to rest if I am extremely tired at my appointment the following day, April 25th, or I could have recurrence of stroke symptoms that lead to the ******************** visit. I was really excited to go to the game as it was supposed to be my son's first baseball game but unfortunately I developed extreme tiredness which is an unpredictable but expected symptom while recovering from a stroke. I could not go to the game on 05/06 but did not have to go to the hospital because I followed the advice already given to me by my doctor and so there is no documentation on the date in question. I reviewed my doctor's note from 04/25 and it does not have the specific wording about resting when extremely tired but that doesn't mean we didn't have the discussion and I didn't get the advice which I appropriately followed accordingly to avoid medical complications and more medical costs. I would advise anyone purchasing event tickets to avoid purchasing their insurance unless you wish to have a similar negative experience to mine and to almost everyone else who has reviewed this company based on an internet search I conducted after my claim was denied. Bad on me for not looking before purchasing but hopefully I can help prevent other people from falling into the same trap.Review fromAlona G

I agree that this company is taking advantage of people. They said Fanshield was created by fans for fans so your plans will be protected from last minute travel conflicts or unexpected health problems. Ah no. They won't. I contacted them because my son cannot do the event (he is 8 so he wont be able to drive himself) and unfortunately I had to work that day but no they won't give me back my money without documentation. I provided my manager's note/email about my work that day but no, not enough. They want hotel, travel, and car rental receipts. For one, I will not have to fly, I will drive. Second, I won't have to be in a hotel because I will be at work all day then drive back home. Ridiculous insurance policies. If we purchase the insurance, there should not be a question of why you are cancelling. The main point of insurance is peace of mind.If i can choose no stars, I would. It won't let me though so I put one.Review fromSu E

I agree with other reviewers that say this company is taking advantage of the current COVID issues. I took out this insurance to cover an event because it stated that it "covered illness", but it wasn't until after I bought the insurance and my elderly parents got COVID, with one hospitalized, so I could not take them to the event, that I learned they don't cover 'pandemics', and had my claim denied for illness even though I provided all the requested documentation. The ironic thing is that if I lied, and simply asked the doctor to provide documentation stating a general "illness" then perhaps they would have honored the claim, but being honest about the nature of the illness cost me the value of 3 tickets for a missed event, plus the cost of the insurance.Buyer beware!Protecht Inc

Absolutely predatory and ridiculous insurance policies.I took out a policy on an event I was attending that required several days of travel to attend. When I became extremely sick before the event I had to cancel all my travel plans.I got a note from the doctor saying that I as too sick to travel on the day of my departure, thinking it would be good enough.Fanshield flat out refuses to honor my claim because the date on the note does not cover the day of the event. I have canceled flight itineraries, proof that I never attended the event and it is obvious that I was unable to attend because I was seriously ill but Fanshield steadfastly continues to nitpick me over the date on my doctors note (a discrepancy of only 3 days). As per their policy guidleines: "Any serious Injury or any unforeseen serious Illness occurring to a Ticketholder which results in a Ticketholder being unable to attend the Event for which the Ticket is purchased. In the case of such Injury or Illness, the Ticketholder must be examined by a Physician, who must advise the Ticketholder in writing not to attend the Event."I should be more than entitled to a refund with the evidence I have submitted. Now if I want to try (no guarantee it will even be approved) to claim my refund again I have to go back to the hospital a week after the event even took place and try to get a revised doctors note with the "correct" date on it.Cannot recommend enough that you don't take out the insurance policy, they are unscrupulous and with do anything in their power to deny you a refund.Protecht Inc
