We recently purchased a refrigerator and at the time told the salesperson that we had a width size restriction of 36 inches. He assured us that there should be no problem with it fitting into the space. When we put it in place we were not able to open one of the doors due to the door , when opened extending out approx one and half inches wider than the fridge box. We contacted Corbeil right away and the manager was going to contact their return department, however he indicated there would be a restocking fee if they took it back at all (due to it being a floor model). When we returned to the store we were told that they would take the fridge back with a restocking fee but only if we purchased a replacement from them. We were disappointed with the ultimatum given to us, especially having initially stressed to the sales associate our width restrictions. We were not asking for our money back as we planned on purchasing another fridge that would accommodate our space. We ended up buying another fridge, which was more expensive, and still had to pay the restocking fee. Maybe the restocking fee could have been waived or further reductions on the fridge we eventually purchased as an offset or partial offset to the restocking fee. I understand the restocking fee is company policy as there is a cost to the company to repackage the product for subsequent sale, however in this case, being a floor model, it would not need to be repackaged as it was not packaged when we received it.We made the original purchase in good faith and had no intent on returning it. I am extremely disappointed with the position taken by Corbeil Appliances and will not be dealing with this company in the future.

    Hi,

In this case the client did buy an AsIs , final sale display model. In our contracts it does clearly state to this fact.

They had been in more than once looking for appliances and the fridge that was purchased does fit into the 36" opening that the customer requested, and the dimensions were reviewed in person before the sale took place.

In this case there is a wall/surface that impedes the door from swinging fully open, but this information is not something that a salesperson can foresee and we were not privy to before the sale.

We did however as a good faith gesture offer to waive the final sale clause if the client was willing to purchase the replacement fridge from us. There was no threat, the client had full choice to keep the final sale fridge that they had purchased or choose a better fit if they were to return the appliance.

This was the best outcome that we could offer int his situation and did feel that it was fair. None of the issues in the customers email were spoken about during the time of the return/reselection process.

I would never buy from Corbeil again! Once they have your money they basically clean their hands of you. We had a brand new dishwasher delivered D.O.A which means it never worked,, they will not replace it , they keep telling us to deal with Whirlpool ( for kitchen aid product) and around it goes,, they refuse to give us a new dishwasher until we get an ok from whirlpool who keep insisting on fixing it ,, weve had the panel replaced now waiting on a motor? They arent even sure what is broken ,, again this is A BRAND NEW KITCHEN AID DISHWASHER THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED . Were out **** dollars and nobody, least of all Corbeil , cares. Do not spend your hard earned money at Corbeil
