I was over billed on Aug 2024 I only noticed this billing because i was conducting a review on my account. The amount was twice for only one month no other months had that amount of charges. I contacted the company to conduct an inquiry back and forth emails with no resolution finally requested a service call they suggested that I turn my breaker off for fours hours. I have never had a charge this high twice my monthly usage ever living in this unit for 17 hrs.**team lead for Carma Soloutions initials JT - For a no-cost test, you would need to turn off your main breaker for four consecutive hours. If you choose to proceed, please provide the date and time of the test so we can notify our technical team. We will then review the readings to determine if they align as expected. If the meter is functioning correctly, the recorded usage stands, and we will be unable to make adjustments.Alternatively, you may request a technician visit. If no issues are found with the meter, a service fee of $175 per hour (minimum two hours) will apply. However, if a fault is detected, you will not be charged.**I cannot turn my breaker off four hours no other suggestion was provided. The condo has been around over 20 yrs Carma Soloution took over or bought the previous company I have been told other units has have similar issues with company . I have not received any confirmation that Carma Soloution that they have testing fr their end.I am not satisfied was the steps taken .Review fromElizabeth O

This company is so corrupt. Our condo building uses them and we have to baby-sit the bills as they constantly overcharge, can't setup proper submetering services, etc. I am going to ask our HOA to look into legal action as who knows what else they have been doing. Use another company! I've never had issues with ones based in the **.Carma Corp

I own a condo in ****** that I had rented out over the last few years. During the time my tenant lived there, Carma bought the previous submetering company and blocked the building (so people have no choice but to transact with Carma). My tenant was basically forced to move her account to ********************. I have called other utilities and they have said they cannot transact with me.Now that my tenant has moved out, Carma is forcing me to pay a $50 "new account fee." My account info was with the previous submeterer (which Carma purchased) - you'd think, if they were a responsible business, they would transfer the owner's information at the time they made the tenant create a "new" account, but they didn't. The language of their own contracts specify that landlords are responsible for tenants' lack of payment, but shrug, I guess. As the owner, I was not informed about any of this, nor offered information about Carma. When I queried the $50 "set up" fee with their customer service, they said that's how they do things (again, ALL of my account information was with the previous company that THEY purchased), so IMO, this is not a new account. This so-called new account fee is utter BS - just a junk fee they are collecting to juice returns. I guess I'll be forced to pay it but I'm not keeping quiet about it.Carma Corp

Thank you, *********, for posting a review and were sorry to hear that your experience regarding pricing was not up to your standard. We can appreciate that additional fees on invoices are not always welcomed. With CARMA and other companies, billing for an Occupancy charge is standard. It covers the admin fee for opening and closing accounts etc, when customers move in and move out. We strive consistently to exceed our customers expectations and I would like a chance to talk and investigate your feedback further. Please call us at **************, at a time that is convenient for you. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.Review fromCindy M

I have never paid such an outrageous amount of money to just rent a water heater. My bills were just over $100 every month!! The cost of the rental and the water consumption as well as service charges and administration fees. My water consumption at the most was $10 a month. The rest of the $100+ bill went to the corporation. The water rental itself was $60 a month. The rest of the bill was bs charges. Will never do business with this company again.Carma Corp

Thank you, Cindy, for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience regarding pricing was not up to your standard. To share some detail, Carma is a billing and recovery company, and our service charge is the only portion of the invoice that stays with Carma. The remaining charges on the monthly invoices are set specifically by the property.
We strive consistently to exceed our customers expectations and I would like a chance to talk and investigate your feedback further. Please call us at 1-888-298-3336, at a time that is convenient for you. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.Review fromSam T

Got charged for electricity after my move out date. They told me they would send me a cheque for what they owed me. It has been 71 days since I advised them of the error... still no cheque. I don't foresee recieving it. Enjoy my $129.69 Carma.Avoid them at all cost.Carma Corp

There was a delay in the processing of the customer's moving form. As soon as there error was identified the appropriate billing adjustments were made on the account. All refund cheques are mailed out 6 - 8 weeks after the due date of the final bill. The final bill due date was October 18th. The customers refund has been approved and will be send out on our next cheque run.Review fromMark S

This is such an overpaid billing service. I would like to have nothing to do with them but unfortunately they are the billing service for water services in for some new condo developments in ******. Last month, my water bill was $3.87, customer service charge of $28.53, and occupancy charge of $50. I really don't understand how they can charge me $78.53, they must be extremely inefficient. This is a rental condo unit that I own. It has been vacant for one month. So, understandably they have to change the occupancy, but $50 is simply price gouging. I don't know what $28.53 customer service charge is price gouging. If I could give zero stars, I would.Carma Corp

Good morning,
CARMA's account setup fees align with the **************'s fees for residents in this area. The ************** specifies a $48.00 fee for a change in occupancy. The invoice in question covers a two-month period, and the current monthly service charge for this complex is $14.45, a rate considerably lower than what the service charge would be if the customer were directly metered by the city. More information on the City Rates can be found below for reference.
The service charge encompasses a range of essential components, including but not limited to billing and meter reading costs, customer support services, technology and infrastructure expenses, as well as meter maintenance and meter data management.

Change of Ownership / Occupancy Each time the name on the account changes, it is considered to be a change of ownership / occupancy $48

Utterly inept and deceptive company. They purchased our previous Sub-metering company "Priority" which was a wonderful company. We have livd here for 10 years + and our bills have remained the exact same for that period. Carma takes over and we were hit with a triple sized bill; told it would return to normal the next month and lo and behold the next month our bill was almost triple again. I called and shared our sub-metering & billing data from Priority which stretched over a decade and I was told they could have a technician come out and check our meter, but if nothing was found wrong we would be charged $210. So Carma takes no accountability, zero of the risk and we just have to trust them that they will be upright and honest after being billed triple the amount we've paid for over 10 years. Absolute atrocious business, truly a masters class in stonewalling and shifting blame. The irresponsibility and callousness of behaviour within this company should draw the attention of regulatory bodies and civil courts all over *******. I'm genuinely concerned this business is engage in illegal practices.Review fromMinh L
