BEWARE: NOT RECOMMENDED. Our heat pump and air exchange system for our new construction home was purchased and installed by Sona Heating & Air Conditioning, 20 Jun 2022. Their Business Development & Project Manager was the principal installer, and our only contact at Sona. We began experiencing issues just over 1 month later. Less than 2 years after we moved in, there remains an ongoing issue that Sona has never been able to rectify. Despite providing several detailed descriptions, Sona considers this our "presumed issue", or our "opinion". Sona has stated via email, "Stop contacting me about the issues you think you are having with your system. Contact another local heating and air conditioning company to solve the issue that you believe you have." We described the issue to Sona as a "thermal runaway". It began occurring in both heating and cooling modes 5 months after install (8 times in 17 months). It locks up and fails to stop once reaching the set temperature. The system continues doing whatever it was doing at that time: pumping out heat (in heat mode), pumping out cold air (in AC mode), or simply staying idle. The system is running away and is completely unresponsive. We texted Sona each time it happened. Sona's text solution was, "When in doubt I always switch off the outdoor unit for 10 min. That resets any glitches." Yes, it has worked. But, is once every 2 months a "glitch"? Sona said it was "a common occurrence with any heat pump", and recently started calling this our "presumed issue", and something that was just our "opinion". They even stated, "I will also be attaching my lawyer to this email chain for his file". Which he did. If this "glitch" occurs while we are away for a few days, would the system heat the house to dangerous levels, or cool it to a damaging degree? We must now seek another service provider, hoping they will be able to rectify the issue. Sona Heating and Air Conditioning have basically told us "too bad, not our problem".
