  Dave and his team are excellent! Prior to our first meeting he called me to say he would be a few minutes late! Most contractors would not even show up, let alone call!   On Time – On Budget – Looks Amazing We selected DeVries Construction to renovate our main floor, and our experience can be summed up in three words: Transparency, Quality, and Professionalism. We chose DeVries based on the transparency of their initial quote and the positive reviews we found online. Transparency: DeVries provided a detailed quote that separated material costs from installation costs. The materials quoted were of mid-high-end quality, and Dave explained that we could choose alternatives to fit our budget without significantly affecting labor costs. The project was completed on budget, with Dave guiding us on where to invest in better materials and where to save. Throughout the project, Dave kept us informed of progress and any delays or setbacks. Quality: The project was completed on time, and we are extremely satisfied with the quality of work performed by Dave and his team. They paid close attention to details in drywall, flooring, painting, and woodwork. On several occasions, Dave’s team took extra time to ensure everything met their high standards. Professionalism: Dave and his team respected our home and made every effort to accommodate our needs. They protected all surfaces that were not being changed, taped off heat vents and return air registers to limit dust, and ensured the space was cleaned up at the end of each day.   Our basement renovation experience with De Vries Construction & Renovation (DCR) was excellent overall. After interviewing four different contractors, we decided to commission DCR to build our project. Dave De Vries (owner/operator) came well prepared to answer my many questions in what I would describe as an engaging discussion sharing his comprehensive knowledge and vast experience. Working from my own drafted conceptual floor plan, Dave offered many creative suggestions with minor alterations, which enhanced our usable floor space in practical and creative ways that I had not considered. Our home is a typical 1950’s bungalow in river-heights with a bit of a tilt and uneven floor, which unsurprisingly presented some construction challenges. Dave was always prompt in communicating his thoughts on necessary alterations to address issues. His suggestions and solutions consistently produced aesthetically pleasing results. I felt well guided and informed through the entire construction phase. Various stages of construction involved choosing materials and construction options that had cost impact. Dave has the knowledge and skills to clearly explain the pros and cons of which material choices were most suited to the task. This gave us considerable relief with confidence to make practical decisions, in what could easily have become a very stressful experience. The crew of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, tilers, and drywallers were highly skilled and competent.   We had originally been planning to sell our house in a year or so - but we needed to upgrade the basement first. We were hoping to find a contractor that could give us a reasonably nice-looking basement for a reasonably nice cost. We got a bunch of quotes - Dave's was the lowest and the most detailed. Once the work began - Dave kept us up-to-date on progress, time frames, next steps, code requirements, etc. He very patiently listened when we brought up change ideas and carefully explained whether or not the changes would even work, if not - why, and the cost implications. Dave and his crew are very skilled, polite, friendly and they obviously take great pride in their work.
  Although we had intended to sell in a year - now that the work is completed - its too nice to leave! We think we may stay a few years longer in order to enjoy it more with our friends and family.
