  I was looking for a contractor to take on a unique job. We wanted our home, which was just one floor, to be moved, a basement to be dug under it and poured, the house to be put back on and an addition to be added. This was a big job and most of the contractors I met with didn't want to take it on because of the difficulty and problem solving that would be required. When we met with Jim ******* of A-OK construction, we found experience and confidence. He has done multiple jobs similar to this and enjoys the problem solving involved with this kind of job. He was also able to put us in touch with his son, Clint *******, who is an architect and was able to draw up the plans for our renovation. Jim provided us with a quote and timeline which we were happy with. He looks for ways to use materials efficiently, reusing what can be reused and buying new what needs to be new. We felt confident we were getting good craftsmanship at a good price. The project had some unforeseen issues which did increase the cost and timeline, but these were communicated and understood and solved at a good price. He also delayed our last payment by multiple months so that it coincided with when we needed to remortgage so that we didn't need to get a bridge loan, resulting in us saving thousands in banking/lawyer fees. Other highlights were, that he has his own mill, and was able to make us a fireplace mantle out of one of our Oak Trees on our property. He always had time for our questions and was kind and welcoming to our small kids. They always wanted to say to "Mr. Jim" as he has a way with connecting with people.
