I hired them for a basement bathroom reno in June 2022. The woman doing the initial estimate was very nice, gave a variable estimate of $15,000- $25,000. This was dependent on any additional work from the basic modest remodeling of the existing bathroom in a 1970's home, nothing fancy or high end. The carpenter "jack of all trades" gave us the go-ahead after initial fixture removal and his ideas, shook husband's hand for confirmation of the job done in our budget and in the expected timeframe of the summer months. The job actually started in July but by October we had paid them over $35,000. The bathroom did not even have walls, drywall, or finished the concrete floor. We were continually invoiced for hours and weekends that the carpenter was not even here, or out of town. We were charged three hours daily for his travel time from Sooke to us in Sidney. This were not told this beforehand, or we would have hired local. We prepaid for a custom sized shower pan and the owner manager brought us the wrong sized one, had it installed anyways, and only when I noticed that only a child could squeeze into it, he tried to charge us again for the correct replacement and re-installation plus the carpenter's hourly fees for removal. These costs were eventually reversed after stressful discussion with the owner. The entire time he had argued and lied to us, sent insulting and disrespectful emails to us. We parted ways and used the rest of our retirement funds to finish the electrical, plumbing, flooring, and purchase of all fixtures, taps, flooring, trims and drywall completion and painting. That winter our water pipes froze solid for 4 days. In Jan. and again Dec. 2023. In Jan.2024 hiring a local bathroom reno who removed the shower stall tiles and saw that there was NO insulation in walls, plumbing pipes, around concrete foundation or openings to the outside. He insulated, redid the drywall and tiles in two days. Avoid Classic Home Improvements. they are deceitful, incompetent, unprofessional and a rip off.
