    This company takes price gouging to a whole other level with non-stop rate increases (that customers cannot fight against), and extortion when customers look to close out their accounts. This business holds their documents hostage with exorbitant closure fees if they want their files back.


    In our case, we inherited their services from a predecessor company 12 years ago and have been paying monthly storage fees which have risen dramatically to over $700 - $750 per month. As our company is cash-strapped, we have been looking for ways to cut costs. I reached out to Iron Mountain by phone to inquire about how many boxes we were actually storing with them and how much it would cost to cancel our contract. Their customer service is non-existent (shocking for such a large company charging their customers such high rates and admin charges). I was given the run-around and sent to the "billing department", which then sent me a non-sensical spreadsheet that I could not decipher.
    When I responded, asking them for more information, additionally, how much it would cost to close the account, the next e-mail I received was that they were sorry that I have decided to close my account. I was flabbergasted, but due to the complete lack of service provided, I went ahead and said yes, I would like to cancel. I found we only had 148 banker’s boxes stored with them, of which we only needed 5 boxes back. When I asked for the quote, they came back with an insane closure amount of $10,271!! It included fees for closing out a full-year contract, which we never saw or signed. We will be fighting this, and I am taking this information to everyone that I know in the hopes that their unethical practices are exposed. Do not do business with them.
