I had an insurance claim with them over 2 years ago, they never showed up to do the work, my insurance adjuster contacted them, they still didn't show up so he got another company to do the job. Two years later I find an invoice in my mailbox for thousands of dollars, it was hand delivered and not by the post office, no postal **** on the envelope, kinda sleazy. I will present this to my insurance company. Well I was dealing with them they changed project managers at least 3 times. This company is a scam.

They don't deserve any stars. This company does not respect their clients. Promise to show up and don't, takes weeks to get a reply back from them, and then their reply to show up for the work doesn't happen again and again. My simple little project has taken 7 months and still isn't complete, my insurance adjuster has been edging them on to do the work, but even then sometimes they don't show up and no msg from them as to why. I am tried of wasting my time waiting for the to show up as promised, will contact my adjuster again.

Reviewing the file, we can confirm that the complete process took longer than average. It appears delays were caused by taking over the project from another contractor, pre-existing damages and private work requests not covered by the insurance claim, overall project volume and staffing turnover. Our records indicate that our teams attended site when scheduled. We have completed all approved insurance related work.

They did not show up when scheduled and that was my main complaint. I wasted many days waiting on them.

******** ********* Never got the job done in 5 months and had to fire them. No customer service - NO proactive communication, ignored emails and texts, No written list of our possessions, no schedule of restoration services and dates. We received nothing in writing, After OVER 5 MONTHS, ABK had DONE NOTHING to restore our flood damaged suite. We’d get occasional calls to quickly select carpet or fireplaces etc. It was always rush, rush. Three months after we selected the carpet (which was never put in on their watch, we get a call to quickly select a fireplace bc that was holding everything up.) Absolutely no timely coordination or schedule. We are aware that suppliers were slammed these days but we heard NOTHING about timing, progress etc. Just terrible, neglectful service. Our requests for statues reports were always ignored. ** ***** * *** ******** ******** *** *** ******** **** **** ******* ** *** ****** ** **** ** *** ******* **** *** *** **** ********** ** *** * ***** *********** ******** ****** * ***** ** ***** ** * ******** *** ******** ** **** ****** ****** ** ****** ** ********* ** *** ********** **** ** * ***** ** *** *** ********* ** ****** ********* ******** *********** ********* The utter absence of any proactive communication, and the absence of response from Jameson the Project Manager was the most challenging aspect. He requested we NOT communicate with his staff (who had occasionally replied) and that all emails be sent to 3 staff., including him for ‘coordination’. Once he got involved we had no responses at all to our emails. ** *** ******* **** **** ******* ** ***** ** ********* We had no explanation concerning why the job was never completed, never any apology or explanation. ** ** *** ********* *** ************

We apologize for the experience. Staffing and vendor shortages were certainly a challenge this year. Reviewing the file, it would appear that the fireplace code upgrade portion of the project created the most delays. After lengthy correspondence with the insurer, it was determined that code upgrade requirements were not covered under the claim and the homeowner was required to complete it privately. Once the homeowner’s private labourer completed the code upgrade component, ABK was able to schedule the repairs. It appears the homeowner chose to switch general contractors when the repairs had already been scheduled and the new general contractor proceeded with some of the existing subcontractors.

Our response to the reply to our post, from ABK, is as follows. It was over 3 months after the flood before the Fireplace Den rep was even summoned to provide a quote.!!!! During that time period nothing, not even contents packing, was done. At no time in our 5 month association with ABK were we offered any written documentation or a schedule with the sequence of tasks. We had no idea what was supposed to happen or when. We received repeated calls to hurry and decide your carpet or the job will be delayed, then 3 months later it was hurry, hurry and decide the new fireplac , then hurry, hurry and order the tile! This was 2 months after ordering the carpet from the same supplier!!!!’ We were eventually told by SGI, via ABK, that we were on the hook to get the outdoor work done,. This work was apparently holding up the entire job. This info was provided to us over 3 months after the flood!!!! As noted, contractors are hard to come by. The work was done by a contractor we hired - who worked into the night to do it as quickly as possible.- but for some unexplained reason, it took over 3 weeks for the Fireplace Den to acknowledge the work was satisfactory. Despite being sent a photo immediately after completion. There was also conflicting info concerning who was doing a required window well. Which caused significant further delay. There was no overall coordination or proactivity that we were aware of, by ABK. We were completely in the dark. No idea what came next. We were always seeking updates and trying to determine what was next. In contrast we had a schedule of tasks and were regularly proactively contacted by Stutters almost daily with updates and explanations. I feel the lack of any proactive communication concerning what to expect, poor or nonexistent responses to our questions for a status report was the worst. Notwithstanding the labour shortage, ** ****** ***** **** ***** **** * ****** ** ***** **** ***** **** *** having no written information or action in 5+ months is inexcusable.
