They are useless, as a person who worked for the Alberta Health told me and as I experienced. Why does it even exist with Albertan's taxes? A disgracefully useless organization. I had a poor surgery by the then head of the surgery department (or rather by his students) at the miserable ******************, they left my leg over 3 cms longer, and a pin sticking out of my hip and painfully rubbing my muscles. Thehead of the department surgeon denied this and dragged me painfully on top of some books he placed on the floor, pushing my feet there to show me I was lying. During another appointment, while waiting for this head of the department surgeon to see me, a Fellow physician came inside the room and looked at my X-Rays. He told me I was in pain because of that pin sticking out and rubbing my muscles. When this head of the department surgeon came to my room and I told him this, he turned to the Fellow physician and said: "Never ever say this, because we will end up in court." This happened several years ago, when I broke my hip. Unfortunately I wasn't carrying a recorder. I then had a second surgery with with another surgeon also at the miserable ******************, to take out the pin, begging him to keep his students away from me (but his useless students took it out), leaving me with a horrific scar. Then a plastic surgeon fixed my scar. In his words: "What a disgrace the way they left you, so I will charge the government for this surgery." And he did. When I complained to the College of *********************************************** of Alberta, in a few words they just supported these two mediocre third class surgeons. As an employee then of Alberta Health warned me that the College of *********************************************** of Alberta is completely useless. He was absolutely right. I am having another surgery within the next year, but this time with a first class surgeon. Thank goodness for patients' reviews so we can choose wisely.
