I’m extremely dissatisfied with Direct Energy’s billing practices. They arbitrarily end billing cycles whenever they choose—for example, on the 26th of one month and the 25th the month before. Now, when I requested to disconnect my electricity, they charged me until the 25th of last month, forcing me to pay for five extra days, including distribution and administration fees that could have easily been included in last month’s cycle. This behavior feels misleading and unfair. I heavily discourage anyone from using Direct Energy—they're essentially ******** customers through inconsistent billing practices.

Never had an account with them, been with ***** for years however, we just moved into a new rental property and received a late bill from direct energy due to gas charges which they stated were from the previous tenant for 1 day July 31st 2024. We took possession of the house on August 1st 2024. Without verbal consent, written consent, or a contract in place, this should be illegal. Considering the severity of tarnishing our credit (due to it being late), I believe this will be a media crisis. Perhaps I am writing this for clarity, but we don't even own the house. We are renting. This company should get a 0 star review and lawsuits. I wonder how many thousands of people were taken advantage of by these ******.

I tried setting up an account for gas online. Was sent an email stating that Saturday is when it was going to get turned on. It didn't. Come to find out there was a balance owing. So there was nothing they could do for me. And they sent me a bill for 157 dollars. And their saying cuz I set up an account on line. And I said you guys said you couldn't help me. So what???

My contract expired March of 2022 and they didn't think to call and ask if I wanted to renew, instead they put me on floating rate and my bills are all of a sudden more than double.

On December 30th, I paid my last bill which was $742 before I cancelled and switched. This week, I received another bill from direct energy. Like I said, Ive already cancelled and switched my energy provider. Yet they still sent me another bill. I tried calling about this and they kept telling me to call back. I now have 2 different bills, my current energy provider and Direct Energy. Also the price difference between the two is immaculate. My current providers bill is $253 while Direct Energys bill is $592. Direct Energy is a ****. The audacity they have to try to take my money even after Ive cancelled. This is going to take a toll on my credit history as I cant afford to pay both bills.

I was still under Xoom energy when I received a letter from Direct energy that I will be under their service with calling me or my consent. The time a need to renew my contract under xoom, i received a billing from Direct energy that i need to pay. ****************!! I refused to pay it and now they filed it on a collecting agency, what a fabulous company that messes with the lives and credit scores of people here in ********! I strongly don't recommend this kind of headache giving companies.

Signed up near end of July/23 and was told we would recieve a free ****** Nest Hub wthin 30 days. It's now near the end of November/23 and after multiple calls, they haven't honored their word and could not give me a reason why.Misleading new customers by promicing them gifts to sign up is not professional in my opinion. Having said, beware!
