In May 2023, BBB contacted Compton's Asphalt regarding claims in its advertising.
Its listing at yellowpages.com states "We use the best asphalt paving products and our work is guaranteed." According to the BBB Code of Advertising, when using the term guarantee in advertising, the advertiser must clearly and conspicuously include a statement that the complete details of the guarantee can be seen prior to sale at the advertiser's location or viewed on the advertiser’s website. Any material limitations or conditions that apply to the guarantee must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed. If space is a consideration and terms of the guarantee cannot be added to online directory or social media sites, BBB suggested that references to the guarantee be removed from this statement. To date, the business has not modified this statement.
