BBB has received consumer information that indicates this business is posting advertisements for a work-from-home employment opportunity on social media, and spoofing the name of a legitimate business in order to do so. The job consists of purchasing blank checks and envelopes, then printing and mailing alleged payroll checks. BBB was contacted by the owner of Legacy Taxes Payroll and advised that they are in no way affiliated with anyone named Hanna Lakeside, or any work-from-home opportunities.
The BBB suggests using caution when responding to work-from-home job offers. While ads claim high earnings and short hours with little or no experience, BBB files nationwide indicate no evidence of anyone making the promised money. These ads are rarely an offer of legitimate employment. The jobs often require upfront fees for information or supplies, and only the person who places the ad makes any money.
It is also important to note that the United States Postal Inspectors regularly investigate fraudulent work-from-home schemes, and you risk investigation and possible prosecution by postal or other law enforcement agencies if you become involved in one.
