          On March 11, 2024, Better Business Bureau contacted Green Hanger for substantiation concerning advertising claims found on its website https://www.greenhangermissoula.com/ during the screening and vetting of their application for BBB accreditation. Green Hanger claims to use an eco-friendly solvent for their dry cleaning. Although the substantiation provided by the business verifies that the product is more environmentally friendly then others such as perchloroethylene, it does not actually provide substantiation that the product itself is environmentally friendly. BBB requested the business modify their claim to compare it directly to perchloroethylene or similar products.

           

           

          Upon additional research, BBB found that the product Green Hanger uses, DF-2000 FLUID, is a Flammable Liquid and Aspiration Toxicant according to the data safety sheet from Exon Mobil. Additionally, BBB was also unable to verify that the product is registered with the EPA.

           

           

          According to BBB’s Code of Advertising, advertisers have a responsibility to have substantiation for all claims made and should be able to provide that substantiation upon request. 

           

           

          Green Hanger did not respond to BBB’s request for the modification of its advertisement.
