      Rented a car from Hertz for a trip because our vehicle was acting up. On the day of the return I called Hertz customer service to find out how much it would cost to return the car to a Hertz location about 10 miles closer to my house, The representative told me multiple times that the charge would only be $10.00. I got my final bill and I was charged hundreds of dollars more. When I called customer service I was told that they would not reduce the charges and that because I returned the vehicle to different location they could charge me the max rate for the vehicle, instead of the "discounted rate" that I was being charged (it didn't seen all that discounted because I rented it off of their app). In other words, their representative told me that the charge would be $10.00 but their customer service said that they could charge me whatever they wanted to.

      By far the worst car rental experience my husband and I have ever had!!!! We showed up to our 9am reservation and they only had two cars Available for rental so they automatically upgraded ** to a VW Tiguan since we thought we were getting a deal on the upgrade we started our road trip from ** to WA. Not even out of ******** the check oil light started flashing and we have to pull off the road. The oil pan was barley had any oil in it so little that it didn't even show up on the dip stick... so we called the hertz **********, ** location that we rented from and spoke to the rep who originally helped us who promised a refund to us. The Rep then had his manager call us to start the process of the refund who then wanted to argue with my husband and I about driving the vehicle from the outskirts of ******* (middle of no where) back to ******************* ** with NO oil in the car. Which would void our contract and we would be responsible for the Seized engine. While my husband argued with **** the manager I called emergency services who started a process of getting us a new rental which took her from 11am -4:30 pm that is absolutely ridiculous! **** had promised my husband and I a total refund as soon as we got back and dropped off the rental the check was not available and nor was **** so we called **** the next day when he told us it should be 4weeks and this was back on July 14 2022 it has been 6 weeks and now we are being ignored by hertz and by **** the manager regarding our full refund. We have called and called and called and have not heard anything back! We will never be using hertz for renting a car again!!!! The oil in the vehicles that they are renting out should be check by there staff every time they let a vehicle leave there lot and it is clearly not! Waiting 5 1/2 hours for them to get us a new rental for there mistake and still charging us is ridiculous!!! On top of the the replacement smelled like Cow manure and made everything smell. NEVER USING HERTZ AGAIN!

      Allowed prepay with Visa Debit card, but when we went to pick up car in STL, the Visa debit card was not accepted and no other card was allowed. Would not return the $568 prepay that was made over the computer and would not allow us to get a car

      I got a charge a month after I got my deposit. It seems like a cashier used my card on file because I shouldn't have been charge a month after receiving my deposit

      I reserved a car in Milan, Italy on 8/9/22. I did not realize iI reserved an electric car. I was hesitant but the woman at the check in assured me that there were plenty of charging stations and Hertz and Shell had an agreement with charges. Well I never saw any Shell stations and using an Italian charging station with a US address does not work. I ended up switching to a gas car after a fiasco trying to find another Hertz outfit before the charge ran out. After giving my review from an automated Hertz response about my rental, the person responded that I should have read the small print.

      I'm on vacation I'm Europe in Greece I was almost. Wen river a diet road going up a mountain didn't realize that the bush on the road was hiding a huge rock well even as slow as I was going maybe 15-20 mph my car side swipe the vehicle onto the rock I panicked and could not stop bc there was
      Nowhere to stop until I wen to the end of the road don the mountain and got out - the locals here can care less if your ok or not - I got back the car was drivable as soon a si got back to my hotel reported the incident immediately CC gave me a file claim number as soon as I got to the airport to return the car and give them the claim number they didn't want it instead they charged me twice the amount that f the damage to my car without any receipt or as two what the cost is! This is fraud beyond fraud do wake dfor a review but nothing was given to me the last time which was a nasty person lied to me - and they charged me I'm waiting for the fraud department and being that I'm away I can't do anything the charge is still pending do not rent from they they don't like it that your credit card covers the I insurance on the car! I have reported them and I will keep reporting and letting everyone know beware I came to them bc there are an American co well needless to say there are there are pulling scams on people- I have a claim number I was advised by cc to give to them the claim they don't care - I will. It stop for the r time and ontop of that they also supplied the wot for address to pick up leaving me stranded on a road in the middle of nowhere - I will not stop until till this woman is fired she has no customer service at all and is a very bad liar - I will take this to the top corporate I'm not letting these off so easy - to all that want to rent Enterprise is the way to go !!

      Hertz is no longer the top car rental company! They became fraudulent and scam!!! This was the worst car rental experience I had. I rented for 14 days. But due to personal issue, I need return the car just one hour after I picked up the car. I was getting into their store and asked first before I decided to return. After confirming I just need paid for one day and would get the rest 13-day money back, I did it. HOWEVER, right after I returned the car, front desk guy told me I need to call Hertz customer service to check the specific amount I will be refunded. Then I called Hertz Customer Service, then they told me they would not refund me because they already charged me. Then the rude customer service just hanged up my phone. I called in again and they hanged up again!!!?? OMG HOW RIDICULOUS AND FRUSTRATED! Isn't it!!? 1) I confirmed with Hertz staff before I returned the car. If they said no I couldn't get money back, I would definitely keep the car, not just throw away my money over $1,000! 2) The Hertz customer service is the worst worst worst in this whole world!! They even don't want to explain but just be fraudulent. You need transfer tons of times and wait for more than half an hour to call in and then they will hang up. Super annoyed and unacceptable. No solution, no reply, no any communication they will do. I have to get my money back this time. So I will do any either through my bank or file a lawsuit. But for everyone, please be caution! Hertz is becoming fraudulent and scam. Service is terrible, car is terrible, price is terrible, no reliable at all! Don't be cheated by them. Now I am using Enterprise. They are definitely so much more reliable and providing much better service than Hertz. Their store supervisor promised me my money won't be charged if I want to return a few days ahead. Their car is even better and cleaner. I hope no more people like me will be treated by Hertz. They are really terrible!

      I've had more rental reservations not fulfilled by this company than successfully completed. This includes being stranded across country after reserving a car a month in advance. It took multiple days for it to be resolved, and the resolution came from a local employee. Corporate did absolutely nothing. Their solution for no inventory is to make another reservation for a car that doesn't exist. They won't even contact their own locations to verify inventory when notified that there's a waiting list at the location.

      I used to be a Hertz fan. But something has gotten rotten in management because their service and customer service is worse than any major corporation I've experienced. Here's the rundown of my recent (and last) rental from Hertz: I rented a car in Denver on Aug 15 On Aug 17 at 6.50am, the car would not start. After 20 minutes on the phone with emergency assistance, they said the car needed to be towed. I left the keys and rental agreement in the car, per their instructions. When I asked the same customer support rep when a new car would be delivered, she told me I would have to call the local Hertz office to see if any cars were available. Since none were currently available in Boulder, where I was, she suggested that I might have to Lyft to Denver to pick up a new car. Later that day (Aug 17), I called the local Hertz office no less than three times to inquire about getting a new rental vehicle. Each time, after navigating the convoluted phone system, the Denver Airport office would disconnect me with a recording saying, "Number is not set up with a routing number," or something like that. So, I called the main Hertz number, and told the agent what was happening. The first person could barely speak English (not an exaggeration), and after relaying my circumstances, I mysteriously was disconnected. This then happened two more times... Disconnected. Aug 18 - I've been without a car for 36 hours... I called Denver number again, and again got disconnected with the same recording as above. So I called the main Hertz number, again, and asked to speak to a manager. After the rep put me on hold, she came back and told me the manager was busy but would call me back. I NEVER received a call back!!! Aug 19 - This morning, since I still do not have a car, and cannot get in touch with ANYONE who can answer one single question, I got an Uber to the airport. ($163.52). When I arrived, I called the main Hertz number to get a refund for my rental. I was disconnected 3x.

      I made the mistake of renting from Dollar at Midway. I had a 1 o'clock reservation. I went to check in at 12:10 and the woman behind the desk refused to check me in. She informed me that my reservation was not until 1 and to come back. I told her that I was informed that I could obtain the rental early if there was one available. She stated that my car was not ready. I returned to the desk again about 12:40. I had to interrupt another front desk clerk who was having a conversation with a co-worker. When she finally spoke to me, she stated that there were eight people ahead of me. I asked how that could be when I had a reservation and that we had a 3-month-old with us and could not wait that long. She replied that she could not "just make a car appear" and that she just checks people in. She also informed me that customers bring cars back late and that "we" meaning Dollar must have oil changes for the cars. Aren't oil changes routine maintenance? As I was walking away to cancel and try to find another car rental from another please, as she advised, she finally looked my reservation up. She stated that I had a mid-size SUV and that there was one available and that it was a brand new RAV4. She went on to inform the first woman that she had looked in the wrong place. I told her that I was not aware I had to specific what type of vehicle I was reserving as this information would have been available if I had been checked in. In addition to stating that she thought the other lady had checked me in. Neither apologized for this. The first woman, once she was made aware of her mistake, sat back down behind her computer and said nothing. The garage staff were very polite and helpful. Something needs to be done about the horrible customer service and overbooking for cars that they do not have.
