The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has received consumer inquiries about JD Ecoffiency Home Solutions, an energy conservation company serving the Lower Mainland. Consumers alleged that a sales representative from JD Ecoffiency Home Solutions came to their door and gave them a free water softener and then 30 days after, demanded monthly payments from the consumer with a contract for the next 120 months.

BBB sent two letters to JD Ecoffiency Home Solutions on October 6, 2020 and October 16, 2020 for details on their business model, sale contracts as well as their privacy and refund policy. 

As of December 14, 2020, BBB has not received a response from this business. The website https://jdehomesolutions.com/ is still active.

BBB recommends that consumers carefully review all contracts they receive as well as look for the following details to ensure it is legally binding:

  • The supplier’s information with the representative’s signature.
  • The date of the contract.
  • Cost of the contract with the tax and shipping charges.
  • Terms of payment and the total price of the contract.
  • Notice of the consumer’s rights of cancellation.
  • Consumers should also know that a direct sales contract is not binding if the supplier does not provide a copy of the contract at the time the contract is entered into. Furthermore, consumers may have the right to cancel a direct sales contract by giving notice of cancellation to the supplier not later than 10 days after the date that they receive a copy of the contract.
